IIMSAM strategic partner hare Krishna one of the world’s largest renowned humanitarian organizations with independent centers in over 60 countries including 50 centers in the United States. Paying dividends with humanitarian concrete deeds via the “food for life program” in support of the IIMSAM Sh. Zayed free spirulina distribution center in Kisumu-Kenya which has now re-opened as the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown has been eased by the government in mid-June 2020.

Since re-opening in mid-June the sh.zayed spirulina/food feeding center has 600-700 daily beneficiaries. The demands is unprecedented due to food shortages.

In a noble initiative to support Tunisia state’s effort to prevent coronavirus, today, the IIMSAM Global Goodwill Ambasador,businessman and celebrity rapper Karim Gharbi (AKA) K2 has provided several protective tools and materials to the central civil protection agents on Lyon Street in the capital of Tunisia. The Global Goodwill Ambassador K2, who is currently residing in the UAE, has donated many protective methods(eg. Masks and other items for the benefit of children with cancer living in Al-Azizia Othmana Hospital.
Since 2017 IIMSAM’s Global Goodwill Ambassador “K2” has been assisting the IIMSAM IGO in the fight against acute malnutrition, the world’s number one killer by championing the IIMSAM cause in support of the IIMSAM Mandate and the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030. IIMSAM trained Mr. Dickson Okoth Agogo makes good of the Spirulina production (cultivation), distribution and information dissemination skills gained from IIMSAM training the year 2015 to help save lives of residents of Taita Taveta County. The county situated in the coastal region of the Republic of Kenya neighboring Voi is 800 Kilometers from IIMSAM Zayed Center in Kisumu. It has according to National Drought Management Authority of Taita Taveta malnutrition levels from sample children of 5 years and less of 2.5 to 3%. The figures are definitely much higher for other sample categories. Dickson works with the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of extension services Taita Taveta. He was inspired by the knowledge he has on the capability of spirulina as a handy solution to health problems, above all the fight against malnutrition hence his direct contribution in seeing the residents of the county live to the standards of individually achieving a more fulfilling healthier life. This was a difficult personal and fiscal challenge that he overcame with tenacity and the willingness to help an impoverished and malnourished population. He reports a popular Spirulina feeding programme with high demand for the same in the region. He has managed to cultivate, produce and or harvest in the magnitude of an average of 5 Kilograms of wet Spirulina daily which is 500 doses at the service of a total 200 beneficiaries to consume in a day thus about 65 adults and 135 children in the ratio 1:2. He has been seeking support and has been instrumental though making frantic efforts to raise funds to expand the programme to meet the rising local demand. Availability of resources will help more than quadruple the distribution of Spirulina to the needy. This is an opportunity for IIMSAM to expand beyond Kisumu within Kenya.
