Kawa Aban and Special-Ad-Hoc-Mission Envoy of Secretary-General Remigio Maradona Meeting Mr. Velican Doğru Head of the Immigration and Refugees Division in Adana City, Turkey & Mr. Fikret Yeni President of the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) to Seek Support for IIMSAM’s Roadmap to Deliver Humanitarian Assistance in Refugees Camps in Adana-Turkey
Envoy of the Secretary-General Remigio Maradona H.E. Kawa ABAN met with Mr. Velican Doğru (Head of the Immigration and Refugees division in Adana City, Turkey) and Mr. Fikret Yeni (President of the Justice and Development Party (Ak Parti) in Adana. Following a constructive meeting as part of the efforts to find a mutually acceptable solution for the “Modus Operandi” to implement IIMSAM’s Roadmap to deliver humanitarian assistance to the “Refugees Camps” in Adana Turkey. All parties agreed to continue their support under the auspices of The Autonomous Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM). Humanitarian Activities would include but not limited to:
- Charity activities in Adana Refugees camp in Turkey
- Introducing Turkish government to IIMSAM organization
- Educational-Campaign on the health benefits of Spirulina for the deciminations of Spirulina in the camps to those who are afflicted by acute malnutrition “inter alia”
- A meeting is in the works with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seek IIMSAM’s Credence in Turkey
- Adana Refugees Camp Run by Turkish government have a large number of refugees in Turkey (Most of these Refugees are From Syria and Iraq).

Over the past two decades, the global population of forcibly displaced people has grown substantially from 33.9 million in 1997 to 65.6 million in 2016, and it remains at a record high. The growth was concentrated between 2012 and 2015, driven mainly by the Syrian conflict along with other conflicts in the region such as in Iraq and Yemen, as well as in sub-Saharan Africa including Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, and Sudan. Brief Background on Kurdistan (Iraq) Refugee-Plight:
Kurdistan, with its population of approximately 5 million, has received over two million refugees as a result of armed conflictin the region. The refugees are mostly internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Southern Iraq and include refugees from Syria. Among the refugees there are more than 0.6 million children, most of whom are malnourished.
